Adolescent Counseling

Adolescents are not just the only one experiencing a massive developmental shift, parents are in the middle of a significant transition as well. This can cause increase stress, anxiety, depression during the years of 10-18 for children. With much of the research for adolescent mental health happening in the last 30 years, there is significant information that has not been handed down to teens or their parents in regards to identity formation, peer pressure, academic performance, social media and mental health.

By building trust with both the adolescent client and the parent, Lindsay is able to offer a safe confidential space where both the adolescent and the parent can be challenged and grow.

Religious Trauma

Religious trauma refers to the psychological and emotional distress experienced by individuals as a result of harmful religious beliefs, practices, or experiences. It occurs when the teachings or behaviors within a religious context cause feelings of fear, shame, guilt, or oppression.

The impact of religious trauma is unique to each person. By using her theological and clinical training, Lindsay works with individuals towards recognizing and addressing religious trauma. Doing so allows individuals to heal and regain a sense of well-being, as well as define their spiritual identity in a way that promotes self-compassion, acceptance, and personal growth.

LGBTQ+

To be clear, identifying as LGBTQ+ is not something a person needs to heal from. It is societal norms, prejudice, and discrimination which causes significant wounding to an individual or a family.

According to the American Counseling Association, affirming counseling is considered best practice for those who Identify on the LGBTQ+ spectrum, and Yana Counseling is committed to providing exceptional support and guidance to LGBTQ+ individuals and families.

Whether it be navigating coming out, managing relationships, or dealing with the impact of minority stress, the hope is to empower clients to embrace their authentic selves, foster resilience, and personal growth.

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy

DBT is an effective therapy combining cognitive-behavioral techniques and mindfulness. It helps individuals build skills for emotion regulation, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness, and mindfulness. DBT emphasizes the acceptance and change needed for growth. It includes individual therapy, phone coaching, and consultation meetings. DBT promotes healthier coping mechanisms, and self-awareness so individuals can live a more fulfilling life.

EMDR

EMDR, or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, is a therapeutic approach that used to treat trauma and other distressing experiences. By utilizing bilateral stimulation, EMDR facilitates the processing and integration of traumatic experiences, allowing for healing, resolution, and the development of healthy coping mechanisms. This powerful technique is widely recognized for its effectiveness and has helped countless individuals regain control over their lives by diminishing the impact of past traumas.
