Can counseling help me?

If you are a human being, then counseling can help you. Whether you have test anxiety, long term goals you are struggling to reach, or moderate mental health symptoms that are impacting your life you can benefit. The hope is to improve your life the way you see fit.

WHAT WILL COUNSELING BE LIKE?

The first session of counseling will be very awkward and uncomfortable. It is you sitting on a stranger's couch while they ask very invasive questions about you and type frantically. This is necessary in order to give important clinical information and context for your ongoing sessions. The second session will be much more relaxed, with the hope of it feeling more like a casual conversation and less like "treatment".

WHAT INSURANCES DO YOU ACCEPT?

I accept all kinds of insurances. Including but not limited to: Tricare; Cigna; BCBS WY; United Health Medicaid; and other insurances. If you are nervous please contact me and ask beforehand.

HOW DO I KNOW WHAT MY INSURANCE COVERAGE IS FOR MENTAL HEALTH?

Call your insurance. The best way to know is to call them and verify what your policy covers. It will be your responsibility to find out and know this information.

WHAT IF I NEED TO CANCEL AN APPOINTMENT?

That's okay! Life happens. I do ask all clients try to cancel 24hrs in advance, but also recognize that sometimes that is just not possible. I do reserve the right to charge a $25.00 no show fee when not contacted.

HOW LONG WILL I HAVE TO GO TO COUNSELING?

I'm not. My entire profession is designed around making your adolescent feel comfortable and welcomed. I have training to facilitate this conversation in a natural way that does not feel forced for them. I usually tell adolescents and parents to give the counseling process four weeks. Usually by then there is a therapeutic relationship established.

WHAT IF I DON'T LIKE YOU OR YOUR STYLE OF COUNSELING?

Tell me. Please, tell me. The foundation of counseling and mental health is a good fit between client and provider. If this is the case, I would like to either correct my approach, or find you someone who would be a good fit for you. What is important is your needs are met through counseling, not my feelings.

I don't have insurance and am worried about being able to afford counseling.

Give me a call, and let talk about it. I am able to work with most people who are in this situation, with a self pay rate. I am also able to accomadate payment plans.
